VSP 153a Industrial Safety

    VSP 153a meets PLO1 at I, D and M levels because the course extensively covers the classification of the health requirements in Cabinet making/ Furniture making industry.

 

VCF 104 Introduction to Cabinet/ Furniture Making

    VCF 104 meets PLO1 at I, D an M levels because it is the objective of the course to cover the major components composing the role and the responsibilities of the cabinetmaker in relationship to the building industry. VCF 104 meets PLO2 at the I, D and M level because once the students acquire knowledge they can describe the environment impacts on the furniture industry. The students learned how to use hammer, hand saw, wood chisel, combination square, etc. and also how to use skill saw, electric plane, jig saw, and some other power tools that we have in the woodshop. VCF 104 meets PLO3 at the I, D and M level mainly through an exhaustive laboratory report which covers the skills/trade areas within the cabinet/ furniture industry. VCF 104 meets PLO5 at the I, D and M levels because throughout the course the students must use the specific skills to manufacture a range of furniture construction joints.

 

VCF 106 Plan Reading & Documentation

    VCF 106 meets PLO3 at I, D and M levels because the major objective of the course is to understand how scale drawings are to be used. VCF 106 meets PLO4 at the I, D and M level because students learn how they’re going to draw with free hand. VCF 106 meets PLO5 at the I, and D level since students are asked to draw full size setout drawings to specification.

 

VCF 110 Domestic Construction

    VCF 110 meets PLO3 at I, D, and M levels because students need to identify types of domestic cabinet or furniture. VCF 110 meets PLO4 at the I, D, and M levels because they have to produce full size setout and a cutting list. VCF 110 meets PLO5 at the I, D and M levels since students are asked to manufacture a practical project. Students are making dinning table sets from a local woods.(Cannon Ball Tree)

 

VCF 124 Safety and Maintenance

    VCF 124 meets PLO2 at I, Demonstrates and shows Mastery of PLO1 in cabinet making industry as students are required to demonstrate what they have learned through their coursework into practical application of important concepts. VCF 124 meets PLO5 at I, D and M are expected to introduce, Demonstrate and show Mastery of the safe operation and routine.

 

VCF 114 Commercial Construction

    VCF 114 meets PLO2 at I, D and M levels because students are expected to prepare a full size drawing of a project containing shaped parts and draw patterns and templates of given full size and scale drawings. VCF 114 meets PLO3 at I, D because students are expected to cut shape out of various materials using hand and power tools. VCF 114 meets PLO4 at the I, D levels as students are required to identify holding devices used in the production of timber components. VCF 114 meets PLO5 at I, D because students are able to identify quality control procedures that applies in the cabinet making industry.

 

VCF 120 Workshop Administration

    VCF 120 satisfies PLO1 at the Introduced, Demonstrates and Mastery levels as the students understanding estimating and costing procedures that a cabinet maker would be required to perform in relationship to the successful operation of a workshop. VCF 120 meets PLO3 at I, D and M levels as students are introduced to explain the benefits of sound production planning practices including quality control in a workshop environment. VCF 120 meets PLO5 at I, D and M because students are expected to calculate an economical cutting plan and procedure

for an item furniture.

VCF 132 Surface Preparation

    VCF 132 meets PLO3 at I, D and M because throughout the course the students must identify and describe the use of scrapers, abrasive papers, steam irons and chisels in the repair of defects and surface blemishes. VCF 132 meets PLO5 at I, D and M because throughout the course the students must understand how to apply a range of clear finishes by various methods to suitably prepared timber surfaces.
