PSLO Assessment Report Summary

What we looked at:

The Certificate in Construction Electricity assessment focused on PSLOs 1to 6. Listed below are the results for each of the following PSLOs.

What we found:

  • 13 out of 15 or 87% of the students got 'C' or better and were able to test electrical equipment.
  • 43 out of 49 or 88% of the students got 'C' or better and were able to practice safety and occupational health procedures in the workplace.
  • 13 out of 16 or 81% of the students got 'C' or better and were able to interpret schematic diagrams and waveforms.
  • 10 out of 15 or 67% of the students got 'C' or better and were able to use electrical hand and power tools competently.
  • 8 out of 11 or 72% of the students got 'C' or better and were able to install wiring circuits according to given specification and plan.
  • 9 out of 12 or 75% of the students got 'C' or better and were able to test electrical equipment.
  • 10 out of 15 or 67% of the students got 'C' or better and were able to determine the amount of load per circuit.

What we are planning to work on:

Put more time on hands-on activities in each electrical courses such as VEM 110 and VEM 112. Purchase digital and analog multi-meter that is in good quality to be used in experiment activities in VEM 103 and VEM 104.

Recommendations for students:

Students must have a grade of "C" or better in Math and English courses to help students become proficient to meet the course work in Construction Electricity’s technical courses. Likewise should also satisfactorily meet the requirements of the course in order to assure program completion in two semesters (one year).
