Third-Year Certificate of Achievement in
Teacher Prep-Special Education


Program Learning Outcomes:

In addition to meeting the program learning outcomes of the Third-year Certificate of Achievement in Teacher Preparation-Elementary, students completing the proposed Third-year
Certificate of Achievement in Teacher Preparation-Special Education will be expected to
demonstrate the following competencies in the area of special education:

1. Demonstrate use of a variety of instructional strategies to meet needs of students with
disabilities.

2. Demonstrate use of, and analyze the results of a variety of assessment instruments and
strategies appropriate for use with students with special disabilities.

3. Demonstrate ability to implement the IEP process from screening to program implementation
and evaluation.

4. Develop plans for involving parents and families in the implementation of programs for
students with disabilities.

5. Develop curriculum, including appropriate modifications for students with disabilities, in the
areas of reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies
