Languages and Literature is one of the largest academic divisions at COM-FSM. This division offers a series of English as a Second Language (ESL) courses in reading and writing to help students prepare for college level courses. The Languages and Literature Division offers upper-level English courses in reading, writing, and speech communication along with various courses in literature, poetry, mythology, philosophy, and religion. Local Languages, Japanese and Chinese are additional offerings designed for personal enrichment and fulfillment of humanities requirements.

Liberal Arts Program Mission Statement

The Associate of Arts degree in Liberal arts at the College of Micronesia-FSM was established in 1975 to enable students to transfer to four-year colleges, universities and other institutions. In doing so, it aims to produce students with critical thinking and analytical skills by providing exploration in a broad, cross-disciplinary educational foundation within multiple academic contexts.
