Dr. Theresa Koroivulaono
President

Warm greetings! As I start my term as your sixth president, direction by the COM-FSM Board of Regents provides crystal clarity for steering the College through today’s demands to overcome tomorrow’s challenges. What else is ‘challenge’ if not an opportunity to learn, a chance to grow, and a means to educate? It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge the efforts led by Interim President Mori and the interim administration for having bravely overcome a number of challenges leading to some significant accomplishments including the following:

  • A new 4-year Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Accounting (BSBAA) program. We now have two 4-year Bachelor’s degree programs offered at the College, the other being in elementary education.
  • A nearly completed Multi Technical Building is being constructed at our CTEC campus, which will substantially increase our intake capacity and to provide our students with adequate learning spaces.
  • A number of COVID-19-funded projects such as the fencing of all of our respective campuses.
  • Approval by ACCJC for a large number of Distance Learning offerings, with most COM-FSM faculty members certified for online teaching.
  • The automation of a considerable number of services provided to students such as online registration and advising.

As we keep expanding our course offerings and improving our supporting infrastructure, the College will continue to respond directly to the employment and research needs of the Federated States of Micronesia. Producing world-class graduates imbued with the skill and knowledge to fulfill today’s needs and mitigate tomorrow’s challenges remains one of our main goals. We will also continue to work much more closely across all of our six campuses based on identifying specific needs and prioritizing student learning and success.

Building on what has already been accomplished at COM-FSM, existing partnerships and initiatives will be strengthened and new ones created to promote and support an intentional regional approach to education for sustainability, relevance and innovation. In anticipation of the renewed Compact of Free Association, COM-FSM will champion self-sufficiency by advocating and participating in building economies of scale through education and training.

The new target for our Endowment Fund is $50 million and we have increasingly creative and goals-driven activities planned. To our sponsors, we are honored to have you as one of our partners and hope that you will continue to support us in the future.

Kalahngan, Kulo, Kammagar, Kinisou, and thank you.

Dr. Theresa Koroivulaono (Ph. D)
President.
