|Languages and Literature is
the largest academic division at the college. This division offers a
series of English as a Second Language (ESL) courses in
listening/speaking, reading and writing at four different levels: basic,
intermediate, advanced, and college. Upper-level English courses in
reading, writing, and speech communication along with various offerings in
literature, mythology, philosophy, and religion, are provided for the
sophomores. Local Languages and Japanese are additional offerings designed for
personal enrichment and fulfillment of humanities requirements.
Literature of the Sea and Mythology courses both place a strong emphasis
on the Pacific area, Micronesia and Polynesia.
