Job Summary:

This position reports to the VPIEQA. The position advances the department's and COM-FSM's mission and culture of evidence and inquiry by providing accurate, timely, and reliable data analyses and information management for college administrators and faculty. This work will be accomplished by conducting and critiquing institutional research studies; by the development and maintenance of research information systems and reporting tools, and by responding to information requests from internal and external entities. This position will also help facilitate effective information-related communication and collaboration among the college's Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Information Technology Office (ITO), Department for Enrollment Management and Student Services (EMSS), and Instructional Affairs.

Duties:

Responsibilities fall into the following funcational areas:
Support college processes, planning and assessment needs: Assist with constructing an annual institutional research plan. Assist with designing and conducting research that supports decision-making related to the college's mission, planning, and budget processes. This may include the following: accreditation; enrollment forecasts; evaluation of institutional effectiveness; classroom learning assessment; student success; retention; community characteristics; program development; and projects; marketing; policies; state and federal reporting; and other related areas. Support research and evidence-based decision making: Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating an institutional research webpage to ensure frequently requested data remains current and readily available; Assist in developing and inputing data for governmental agencies, such as the US Department of Education (IPEDS and Gainful Employment reporting); accreditation agencies; and the FSM government (such as Compact Reporting and questions from the National Department of Education). General administrative functions & expecations: Perform other duties as assigned, such as (but not limited to):basic proofreading of documents and website information in accordance with the COMFSM Publications Manual and Accreditation Standard I.C.; attending meetings; serve on committees, filing and scanning documents and maintaining records and files; performing basic clerical duties like preparing purchase requests, timesheets, Travel Authorizations, and related documents; and preparing materials for use at meetings and presentations, undertaking professional development activities. Communicate effectively and work both independently and as part of a team to analyze and interpret; Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with standards, mission, goals, board policies, and administrative procedures of COM-FSM;
Understand and accept the role to be played as a partner in an educational enterprise serving the best interests of the students; Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions as guided by the COM-FSM Core Values and principles of best practice and the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) Code of Ethics and Professional Practice;

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree from a US accredited institution in mathematics, statistics, data management, database development, computer science, research methods, quantitative analysis, educational evaluation, or other research/assessment oriented discipline; Minimum of two years of work experience in research and/or assessment; Software Programs: Experience with data visualization software or technologies (i.e.:Microsoft Power BI, Google Data Studio, Tableau, or etc.); An understanding of SQL, mysql, and/or other programing languages, understanding how data are stored; knowledge of relational databases. Special Skills, Abilities and Knoweledge: Experience in analyzing data and compiling and presenting reports and studies; Knowledge of office tools such as computers and printers; office computer software programs (such as Microsoft Office); report and presentation writing.
