General Description:This position is supervised daily by the Chuuk Campus Director while administratively responsible to the Vice President for Cooperative Research & Extension at the National Campus. Duties are split into two major areas; 50% FTE Extension and/or Research and 50% FTE Program Supervisor/Administration and Budeget Management. Successful candidate is expected to engage in a specialized research field appropriate to his/her qualification.
Duties:
Major Administrative Responsibilities: Plan and supervise projects within programs with Program Leaders, Develop means and methods to solicit stakeholder input, guidance and support for active projects and proposals, Develop Project Proposals for grant applications with a minimum of one new grant application per state per year from the CES office, Develop and manage State CES and AES Budgets, Develop the State Plan of Work to justify and encourage local matching funding, Represent CRE at all college campus functions and state government agencies, Provide monthly, quarterly and annual reports on CRE state activities and facilitate compliancy of reports with established required formats, Follow college’s policies on all matters including equipment disposal procedures, Hire, Train, and supervise office personnel, Administer, facilitate & oversee UOG/SOE, recommends program course, & reports to stakeholders, Serve on committees.
Major Extension Responsibilities: Prepare an Individual Plan of Work, present, document and report planned extension activities separate from the state collective reports included in the administrative responsibilities. Reporting responsibilities include two on-line activity reports per month in additional to accomplishment reports to all relevant stakeholders. Provide information and management advice directly to clients, schools, non-governmental organizations and interested individuals. Work with State Agriculture Department, other government agencies and farmers in planning organizing workshops at the village level. Evaluate effectiveness of workshops and programs, and implement suggested changes in areas of responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from a US accredited college in one of the following fields: Agriculture, Food and Consumer Sciences, Agriculture Education, Natural Resource Management or Public Administration. Other acceptable related fields maybe considered. Masters degree is preferred. Must have 5 years of full-time progressively responsible work/management experience running a similar program. Must have good working knowledge of MS word, MS Publisher, Excel, and Access program. Demonstrate successful ability and skills to speak in both formal and informal public settings, ability to work successfully in a team oriented environment with geographical distance challenges. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, community members, government officials and supervisors. Knowledge of the local language is a plus. Cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
