nano: The Mark
1
1 4.4 The Mark
1 ============
1
1 Text can be selected by first ’setting the Mark’ (default key bindings:
1 ‘^6’ and ‘M-A’) and then moving the cursor to the other end of the
1 portion to be selected. The selected portion of text will be
1 highlighted. This selection can now be cut or copied in its entirety
1 with a single ‘^K’ or ‘M-6’. Or the selection can be used to limit the
1 scope of a search-and-replace (‘^\’) or spell-checking session (‘^T’).
1
1 On some terminals, it is also possible to select text by holding down
1 ‘Shift’ together with the cursor keys. Such a selection is cancelled
1 upon any cursor movement where ‘Shift’ isn’t held.
1
1 Cutting or copying selected text will toggle the mark off
1 automatically. If necessary, it can be toggled off manually with
1 another ‘^6’ or ‘M-A’.
