Actual quiz is in Schoology.

The first part of this quiz uses scores from a dance contest. The scores are in the second column of the first table on the data page. Do not round off any answers. For fill in the blank questions the decimal is a non-repeating, terminating decimal. Enter the exact value, no rounding. Do not add "zeros" to pad your answers.

For example, if the answer is 0.25, type "0.25" not 0.3.

Non-terminating decimal values are multiple choice questions and the answers are rounded off.

The data for the questions is in a web page located at the link. Copy and paste the data into a spreadsheet. For questions 1 to 14, use the numeric dance score data in the second column of the dance score table. For questions 15, 16, and 17, use the airport words data

Remember than you can use the windows key in combination with the arrow keys to split your screen with the quiz on one side and the spreadsheet on the other.

Do NOT press enter after typing a number into a blank. Press the tab key or use the mouse to select the next blank. If you press enter then Schoology will submit the quiz. For this quiz that puts you in review mode, use the Back button at the bottom to return to the quiz.

For the numeric score data

  1. What is the level of measurement?
  2. Determine the sample size n.
  3. Determine the minimum.
  4. Calculate the first quartile.
  5. Determine the median.
  6. Calculate the third quartile.
  7. Determine the maximum.
  8. Calculate the range.
  9. Calculate the interquartile range.
  10. Calculate the mode.
  11. Calculate the sample mean x.
  12. Calculate the sample standard deviation sx.
  13. Calculate the coeficient of variation CV.
  14. What is the z-score for a dance score of 53? You will need to use the mean and standard deviation you calculated for earlier questions.

For the airport words data

  1. Make a frequency table
  2. Sketch a histogram (multiple choice)

  3. What is the mode?

Notes: Although two students completed in 20 minutes in the 10:00 section, the earliest finishers at 9:00 were at thirty minutes. At eight and nine there were students who worked up to the end of the period, exhausting the time limit set for the quiz. In general students appear to move slightly more slowly through the on line quiz than the equivalent paper based quiz. This may also be affected by how familiar they become with the interface in the future.
