College Mourns the Passing of Alton Higashi, Professor, Chuuk Campus

It is with deep sadness the college announces the passing of Alton Higashi, social science and education professor at Chuuk Campus. The college extends condolences to his family residing in the United States. Mr. Higashi taught at the college from January 12, 1998 - April 26, 2021. Alton had high expectations for students in his classes and created learning environments that developed students' critical thinking and self-confidence. He also gave his full devotion to continuous improvement at the college during his twenty-three years of service. It was obvious he loved the teaching profession.
