Suwoasu and maarr from Satawal, Yap. Maarr is breadfruit. The fermented breadfruit ferments during a storage period of six months to a year. Once prepared, the maarr will not spoil. Maarr is a staple during canoe voyages. The maarr presented today came all the way from Satawal. The maarr is stored underground or in hanging baskets.
