CA100-Computer Literacy
Course Outline
General Objectives
This course is an introduction to computer concepts and applications.
The students will acquire a basic knowledge of the computer operating
system. The students will also acquire word processing skills by
effectively using a modern word processing application program to create
professional or business documents.
Specific Objectives
The student will be able to
- Identify the various hardware components of a computer system
- keyboard
- mouse
- disk drives
- monitor
- CPU
- Printer
- Describe the inter-relationship between the various hardware
components.
- Effectively interact with the computer operating system by
successfully
performing activities such as:
- Starting up
- Typing
- Saving
- Printing
- Formatting
- Identify the main features of a word-processing application
software:
- document window
- menu bar
- toolbar
- scrollbars
- document control buttons
- ruler
- Create business or professional documents including letters, memos,
webpage and newsletters.
- Enhance the appearance of the created documents by:
- changing fonts
- changing color
- modifying styles
- paragraphing
- indenting
- spacing
- Format documents using features such as:
- tables
- drawings
- graphics/charts
- frames/pictures
- Edit document text using features such as:
- copying
- cutting
- moving
- pasting
- deleting
- spellcheck
- thesaurus
- Automate word-processing by using macros and mailmerge.
- Explore the application using the Help feature.

A..................90% to 100%
B..................80% to 89%
C..................70% to 79%
D..................60% to 69%
F..................59% and below
