Course Title: Introduction to Photography and Video

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES

General

Introduction to Photography and Video will provide students with basic darkroom, digital photography, and digital video skills. These skills will be taught along with the history of photography and guidelines for artistic composition.

Specific

Students will be able to:

 1. Use a 35mm camera and demonstrate an understanding of the interaction between film speed, f-stop, and shutter speed.
 2. Use a darkroom to develop 35mm film and prints.
 3. Demonstrate a knowledge of photographic composition.
 4. Demonstrate a knowledge of the history of photography and major photographers.
 5. Use natural and studio lighting.
 6. Use a digital camera.
 7. Upload and manipulate digital photos in Photoshop for use in different formats (i.e. web-pages and prints).
 8. Use a video camera.
 9. Demonstrate a basic understanding video composition.
10. Demonstrate a knowledge of story-boarding for video production.
11. Use digital video editing software to create videos that incorporate digital and 35mm photographs.
