Course Title: Beginning Japanese

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES

1. Pronunciation:

    Students will learn the basic sound system in Japanese including all the variations.
 

2. Writing:
    Students will learn how to write characters, words, and sentences in HIRAGANA.
 

3. Speaking:

    Students will be able to express themselves with regard to introducing, identifying people and things, telling time, and basic
    actions in everyday life such as going, coming, eating, and drinking. They will be also able to ask questions and respond to
    questions asked of them as they build up their vocabulary.
 

4. Reading:

    Students will learn how to read and understand characters, words, and sentences in HIRAGANA.
 

5. Listening:
    Students will be able to comprehend simple
Japanese sentences spoken by native speakers.
 

6. Culture:
    Japan of today, and Japanese lifestyles are introduced. Students will learn how to greet people on various occasions and also learn
    about current customs among the Japanese in their daily life.
