College Ready to Host 8th Micro Games
Palikir, Pohnpei (July 14, 2014) – The National Campus community is preparing for the 8th Micronesian Games to be held in Pohnpei from July 20 – 30, 2014. The National Campus will be hosting several events.
Preparations have been ongoing for months anticipating the event. The FSM-China Friendship Sports Center has been renovated through the assistance of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China. Renovations saw new basketball backboards and rims, new lighting, and several other changes to accommodate the games.
The College will be the venue for Basketball, Table Tennis, Weightlifting, Beach Wrestling and Wrestling. In addition the College’s Residence Halls will house Basketball officials.
The opening ceremony of the 8th Micro Games will be on July 20, 2014, from 5:00 to 8:00PM at PICS track and field in Kolonia.
Represented at the games will be the four states of the FSM, the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, the Territory of Guam, Republic of Kiribati, and Republic of the Marshall Islands, Republic of Nauru, and the Republic of Palau.
