Longest Serving College Employee Retires after 43 Years
Palikir, Pohnpei – Leaving the College is one of the most difficult things he has ever had to do says Ketiner Kenneth, the longest serving employee of the college. At the age of 22 Mr. Kenneth began with the College in 1970 when it was still known as the Micronesian Teacher Education Center (MTEC).
I have served and dedicated 43 years of my life in helping contribute to student success. I have had the pleasure of being a staff member that grew and matured at this institution, says Mr. Kenneth. I have had the luxury of seeing the college grow; never in my wildest dreams did I imagine the college would grow this big. It’s very much different from when I started.
I am forever grateful for all the support and opportunities that the college has given to me throughout my career, he added.
To his colleagues, Ketiner was the life of the crowd; he knew how to make people smile around him. His sense of humor is what we’re going to miss the most say members of the business office. To students he is better known as “Mr. Refund.”
I am now 66 years old. It pains me to leave the college, especially my colleagues that are dear to me; and the students that I serve, but I need to devote the rest of my time with my family, says Mr. Kenneth.
All the best to “Mr. Refund” thank you for 43 years of service to the College Ketiner.
