ACCJC action letter and Visiting Team Report Released
On July 4, 2013, (USA July 3, 2013) College of Micronesia-FSM received an action letter from Commission President, Dr. Barbara Beno. The action letter notes the college has been removed from probation and reaffirmed accreditation.
The college has been asked to provide a Follow-Up report due March 15, 2014, to update the Commission on both continued progress for Recommendation 6 and the FSM government’s continued support towards offsetting the Compact decrement. This report does not require a team visit; however, the Commission can require a team visit at any time.
The college has engaged a New Zealand consultant group, Beca, to assist with a facilities master plan study and report. The work is described in our recent Combined Midterm and Follow Up Report of March 15, 2013, (pp. 70-73) and an update is provided in our Supplemental Report of May 15, 2013 (p. 6). The college will continue to seek support of the FSM government, as eligibility requirement (ER) 17, Financial Resources states:
“The institution documents a funding base, financial resources, and plans for financial development adequate to support student learning programs and services, to improve institutional effectiveness, and to assure financial stability” (Accreditation Reference Handbook, p. 5).
The Accreditation Reports Archive contains a history of the institution’s reports, including this year’s reports and presentation to the Commission. Additionally you will find the visiting team’s Follow-Up Evaluation Report and the recent Action Letter. A complete list of recent Commission actions has been provided for your viewing convenience.
Congratulations College of Micronesia-FSM for two years of hard work. Let us sustain the momentum, as accreditation work is never done.
