Founding Day games underway at National Campus
PALIKIR, Pohnpei (February 21, 2013) – Students from Pohnpei and National campuses are currently competing in ball games leading up to the college’s Founding Day celebration on April 1, 2013.
Students representing nine groups from the national and Pohnpei campuses are participating in the games. According the college’s Sports and Recreation staff, the games started on January 31st and will conclude on the 3rd week of March. The games include students representing National Campus students from Pohnpei (Pohnpei National), National Campus students from Chuuk (Chuuk National), National Campus students from Yap (Yap National), National Campus students from Kosrae (Kosrae National), Pohnpei Campus students, students from the Pohnpei outer islands of Pingelap and Mwoakilloa (Ping/Mwoak), students from the Mortlock Islands (Mo-Chuu), and students from the Exercise and Sports Science Program.
The student groups played different types of sporting events such as basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer, badminton, table tennis and billiards. All games are being played at the FSM-China Friendship Sports Center except for the baseball games, which are being played at the baseball field by the Spanish Wall in Kolonia.
The annual founding day games are other sporting opportunities where faculty, staff and students get to enjoy fun activities together.
