COM-FSM Choir Performs at the Grand Opening of the FSM Convention Center

The College of Micronesia-FSM (COM-FSM) Choir delivered a powerful and moving performance at the grand opening of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) National Convention Center on May 16, 2025. The Nanmwarki of Sokehs, His Majesty Herculano Kohler and Nanalek Sokehs, Her Highness Susanna Kohler presided over the opening with other traditional leaders. The historic occasion, attended by national leaders, diplomats, and community members, was made even more memorable by a special appearance: COM-FSM President Dr. Theresa Koroivulaono joined the choir in song, exemplifying a deep commitment to students, culture, and community.

Featuring talented student vocalists, and conductor Dr. Micahael Muller (COMFSM music instructor), the choir performed "FSM KAMORALE" for the first time, a song specifically composed and written for this occasion by Mr. Dan John Fox symbolizing national unity, cultural pride, and the vibrant spirit of the Federated States of Micronesia. President Koroivulaono’s participation underscored the college’s hands-on leadership approach and its dedication to fostering creativity and artistic expression.

“Music is a bridge that connects our past, present, and future,” said Dr. Koroivulaono. “Performing alongside our students was an honor and a powerful reminder of the energy and passion that lives within our institution.” Furthermore, Dr. Koroivulaono acknowledged His Excellency, FSM President Wesley W. Simina's challenge to the college at the April 2025 Board of Regents' dinner reception. The FSM President's challenge for the COM-FSM Choir to come up with a song that included all four languages of the FSM, English and the word "kamorale" inspired this original composition.
