U.S. Embassy Deploys Experts to Address Unexploded Ordnance at Career and Technical Education Center in Pohnpei
Kolonia, Pohnpei – The U.S. Embassy in the FSM has dispatched a team of experts to the Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) in Pohnpei to address the ongoing discovery of unexploded ordnance (UXO) on the campus.
Her Excellency Jennifer Johnson, Ambassador of the United States of America informed the College that the team, funded by the U.S. Government's Golden West Humanitarian Foundation, is currently on-site. The team includes a munitions expert and a trauma medic who are conducting a comprehensive scan of the CTEC campus to identify and clear any existing UXO.
The discovery of UXO at CTEC has been a persistent issue over the past year, posing a significant safety risk to students and staff. The current operation is focused on immediate identification and removal of hazards.
The College has expressed its gratitude to Ambassador Johnson and the U.S. Embassy for their timely intervention and commitment to the safety of the CTEC community.
