Tokyo Metropolitan University Exchange Program
Tokyo Metropolitan University and Tokyo Metropolitan College of Industrial Technology are inviting 8 students from the Federated States of Micronesia to participate in a short-term program from November 17-24, 2024 (previously participated students are not eligible).
Program Content: Japanese culture classes, events, and other activities such as facility tour related to environment.
Expenses: Each participant shall be responsible for paying 20,000 yen and visa application fees (roughly $165 USD in total). (Roundtrip airfare and costs associated with staying in Japan/accommodations and transportation within Japan shall be borne by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government).
Requirements:
COM-FSM internal selection criteria:
- Must be a current full-time student under a degree program with at least one completed full time semester under a degree program.
- GPA should be ranked from the highest, based on the cumulated GPA. This selection is capped at GPA 3.5 and above.
- Previously participated students of any exchange program in representing the college are not suggested to be selected in order to give the chance to other outstanding students.
- The submitted essay will be graded on the final selected candidates who met the previous 3 criteria. Essay is rated using COMET rubric.
- If all credentials, and essay results are the same, the position should be given to prioritize sophomores/or the last year students.
Application items:
- A COM-FSM transcript with at least one semester with grades (unofficial is acceptable). The cumulated GPA should be 3.5 and above.
- An essay about why you applied for this program, what you intend to learn in Japan, and how you plan to make the most of your study abroad experiences in your future (suggested length 200-300 words).

The Vice President of Instructional Affairs office will announce the selection result by September 30th, 2024.
