HRO Celebrates International HR Day 2024

On May 20, 2024 we joined our HR Professionals around the world celebrating the International Human Resources Day.

This year is marked by various on-going challenges, achievements and exciting initiatives undertaken by the Human Resources Office which support this year’s themes:

• Championing Ethical Tech & AI Integration
• Redefined Future Workplaces
• Excellence in People Leadership
• Continuous Investment in Skills and Education

The PeopleAdmin system is purchased, employees were trained across the campus sites in its use and will be trained again in the last two modules when completed later this year. This system will transform our hiring process, training, and performance development review and access to these from anywhere.

The initial contract with the Personnel Audit Consultant was completed December 2023 with a number of recommendations, three of which were implemented last year and this year while we continue to work with her to realize and prioritize the remaining recommendations.

HRO continues to use technology to deliver services to improve access and skills in regards to Dropbox for file sharing and Zoom for meetings, trainings and hiring. As well, we utilize the instant message feature of the college’s edu email to enhance our communications while in the office and on the go.

Since 2015, all human resources procedures and the manual with forms are accessible online while policies have been published there each time one is created and/or revised. That practice continues today to promote access for employees anywhere and anytime.

We have used digital signature since 2020 to improve the flow of documents between offices while maintaining quality and we continue this to present day.

As we continue to fill vacancies across the six campus sites, we work with colleagues from all the campus sites in these important tasks and we appreciate your teamwork and support.

We achieved the above because we have such wonderful partners within the college who support the HR functions and activities. For this, we are very grateful and we look forward to more fruitful partnerships in the coming days when we bring forth recommendations for the much anticipated additional improvements to the Performance Development Review and many more.

We'd also like to express our gratitude to the campus management teams for their incredible work in running the successful 2024 Annual Incentive Award program across all campuses from May 3rd to 13th. Congratulations to the 131 well-deserving recipients across all campuses! We also want to thank all the employees who participated in the events and showed their support, not only for the program itself but also for their colleagues who achieved important benchmarks and were recognized this year.
