Youth Building Peace: Activism for Human Rights Video Contest

The College of Micronesia-FSM, Pohnpei State Department of Health Services, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM)-Micronesia are happy to announce the 16 Days of Activism (25 Nov-10 Dec 2017 ) 2017 Video Contest with the theme: Youth Building Peace: Activism for Human Rights! The Video Contest is open to all COM-FSM and high school students in Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap. All videos must be original content and videography created by the contestants.

Videos must fit into either a narrative or documentary category, be 5 minutes or shorter, the submitting group can consist of 1-5 people, and the video topic must relate to this year’s theme (above) and answer the question “How do you create peace in your community through activism?” Multiple entries are accepted. The contest opens on 25 September. Videos must be submitted by 25 November to your local IOM office on a flash drive or via YouTube. Submission details are:

For video assistance, contact COM-FSM Student Life. Submissions that fit the above guidelines have the potential to be aired during relevant 16 Days of Activism Events throughout FSM and on partner Facebook pages. ALL fitting submissions will be shared during the Second Annual Pohnpei Human Rights and Migration Festival (10 Dec 2017) and on the IOM-Micronesia YouTube channel. First and Second prizes in the narrative and documentary categories will be awarded during the 10 Dec festival.
