Residence Hall Students Give Back

(Palikir, Pohnpei ) June 13, 2017 – Residence Hall students spent their Saturday morning, June 10, 2017, picking up trash and debris along the Dekehtik causeway. Organized by the Office of Student Life, the activity was initiated to allow them to experience and give back to the island that hosts them.

The activity allowed students from the islands of Chuuk, Yap and Kosrae to express appreciation for their temporary home. The group collected about 20 bags of trash, their efforts extended further as the lively students transported all the trash to the nearby dump site, to minimize the chance of it being re-distributed into the environment.

Following the event, the students spent the rest of the afternoon at Nett Point Beach. These students have actively been engaging in other activities such as an Island Tour, getting to know distinguished sites around the island.
