Hydroponics Group Installs Units on Pohnpei

Kolonia, Pohnpei ( May 29, 2017) - Hydroponics of the Pacific (HOP) has been installing hydroponics units around Pohnpei. Last week, HOP built a system at Saimon's Market to test the technology's ability to serve a commercial market. Over the weekend, HOP installed a system on Ant as a trial model for the outer islands.

HOP is a student-operated business that is exploring methods for utilizing hydroponics in the FSM. HOP's business includes the building of a variety of hydroponics systems and using hydroponics to grow fresh produce for the island.

The group plans to build 6 more systems throughout the summer in a variety of places in the FSM with funding through Global Greengrants which started last April 2017.
