23rd Founding Day Celebrated
Palikir, Pohnpei (April 4, 2016) – The College celebrated its 23rd Founding Day on April 1, 2016, at the College’s National Campus in Palikir. This year’s Founding Day was celebrated as “Celebrating Student Success in a Diversified Community”. Each College Campus conducted its own Founding Day activities.
At the National Campus, a Coronation Ceremony was held at the FSM-China Friendship Sports Center on March 30, 2016. A Prince and Princess representing each team (red for Yap, white for Chuuk, green for Kosrae, and blue for Pohnpei National) paraded through the gymnasium.
Winson Elley and Maggie Tolena of the Kosrae Student Organization (KSO) were crowned the King and Queen of this year’s Founding Day Coronation Ceremony with a total of $1,735.00 raised for the College's Endowment Fund. Yap Student Organization (YSO) represented by Dominic Gadad and Jeanie Gabriel earned second place with a total of $1,100.00. Third place went to Chuu-Chok represented by Artray Irons and Jessica Reyes with a total of $586.57 raised. Pohnpei Student Organization (PSO) represented by Alex Alezander and Mimi-Lane Weital came in fourth place with a total of $300.00.
The coronation ceremony was followed by fun games on April 1st, held at the National Campus grounds where faculty, staff, and students competed with each other.
