National Campus Observes Substance Abuse Prevention

Palikir, Pohnpei (June 29, 2015) – The  National Campus observed Substance Abuse Prevention (SAP) Month through a 2-week summer basketball tournament and an essay and drawing contest.

Six teams participated in the basketball tournament which included; Youth for Change, Residential Halls Students, FENTA, IA MINKUJ, SAP Committee team and the Department of Health Substance Abuse (DOHSA) Team. 

The SAP Committee team was hailed Champions of the tournament, while second honors went to the Youth for Change Team, and the third place went to team DOHSA.

The College has been stepping up its efforts in promoting Substance Abuse Prevention (SAP) with activities such as sports. According to Mr. Kerio Walliby, Director for the FSM Behavioral Health & Wellness Program, “This type of sporting activities are very important to keep the youth away from taking drugs or drinking alcohol, we are committed to support the college from activities such as this”.  FSM Behavioral Health & Wellness Program is also one of the major sponsors.

The SAP activities concluded with a short program on June 26, 2015 at the FSM-China Friendship Sports Center, Practice Gym where the winners of the basketball tournament, essay and drawing contest were awarded with gift certificates. Below are the names of the winners:

3^rd Place: Rayson Kasio

Drawing Contest:

1^st Place: Joy Berdon
