PTK International Honor Society Welcomes New Members

Kolonia, Pohnpei (November 17, 2014) – The Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society, Beta Omicron Upsilon Chapter welcomed eleven new members on November 7, 2014, in a short ceremony held at the Student Services Center at Pohnpei Campus.

Guest speaker Rose Yatilman, Overseas Development Assistance Specialist from the office of SBOC, talked about the importance of education and shared her struggles and experiences as a college student in Hawaii.

A special recognition award was given to PTK Advisor Taylor Elidok for the years of service he dedicated as an Advisor.

PTK was established by Missouri two-year college presidents in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students, and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership, and service programming.

Today PTK is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 1.3 million members and 1,200 chapters located in the United States.

Newly inducted PTK members are Kenye Donna Jim, Joel Manongsong, Yuuki Omura, Ravelyn Leyaroftog, Brandy Yinug, Carol Ann Carl, Xlee Rodriguez, Thaine Nakasone, Genevieve Hainrick, Rachel Yatilman, and Caleb Joshua David.
