VOCTEC Solar Photovoltaic Technician Training held at Pohnpei Campus
Kolonia, Pohnpei (September 22, 2014) – College of Micronesia-FSM, in partnership with Arizona State University’s Vocational Training & Education for Clean Energy (VOCTEC) program, concluded its five day PV Technician Training on September 19, 2014.
VOCTEC is a USAID program that aims to improve sustainability of renewable energy investments to 12 Pacific island nations, COM-FSM is a program stakeholder.
During the opening ceremony, Director of Career and Technical Education Grilly Jack welcomed VOCTEC Pacific coordinator Gavin Pereira and the 12 participants from PUC, DOE and COM-FSM apprentice program. VOCTEC trained CTE instructors Cirilo Recana and Romino Victor, conducted the workshop.
In his remarks, Dean Jack expressed COM-FSM’s dedication to ASU’s initiative in promoting technicians’ training to maintain renewable energy in the Pacific islands. He also stated that COM-FSM will soon offer a PV Systems and Installation course to be offered in its Building Technology program.
