National Campus Security Conducts Fire Drill at Residential Hall
Palikir, Pohnpei (September 4, 2014) – A Fire Drill was conducted in the early morning hours of September 1, 2014 at the College’s National Campus. The fire alarms were activated and evacuation of the Residential Halls undergone, to test and exercise the College’s safety procedures.
On scene were responding security officers to suppress the mock fire. Security officers were also responsible for shutting down the power of the targeted facilities and assisting the Resident Halls staff where needed.
The alarms were activated at 6:20AM. By 6:35AM all halls were evacuated, head counts made, and fire hoses were activated to suppress the threat. The activity ended at 6:50AM without any incident.
Chief of Security Warren Ching assembled all Residential Hall students after the drill for a debriefing. Information shared included accreditation requirements and explanations on how serious this effort was. Most importantly, the College is concerned about their safety and it is to assure that all students are aware of what to do in an emergency such as a fire.
