Associate of Science Degree in Teacher Education

This Associate Degree can be acquired in two fields: Elementary Education and Special Education. Both programs are centered on a set of 25 credits of General Education Core Requirements, which include courses in English Communications and Study Skills, Mathematics, Natural Science, and Social Sciences. The general core is accompanied by Major requirements - 33 credits for Elementary Education and 39 credits for Special Education. These major requirements include courses in education, as well as electives in various subject disciplines.

 

A.  Certificate of Achievement in General Studies  This certificate program includes at least 15 credits in core requirements(ESL and mathematics) with 9 credits in Natural Science and 9 credits in Social Sciences.  After completing this program a student who passes the entrance examination may be admitted into a degree program.

B.  Certificate of Achievement in Agriculture and Food Technology

 This certificate program aims to prepare the individual  to enter the agricultural profession in the public or private sector or to continue on to a degree program at the National Campus. It has 12 credits in general  requirements and 25 credits in technical requirements.  Knowledge of agricultural production and good communication and managementskills are integral in all phases of food production.

C.  Certificate of Achievement in Carpentry  Carpentry is one of the basic trades in the construction field. Students are introduced to the techniques and methodology of components construction involving cabinet, interior and exterior finishing and form construction. Blueprint sketching and interpretation is taught manually and computer assisted in this program.

D.  Certificate of Achievement in Electricity and Electronics  This program is modular and introduces basic fundamentals and principles of electronic theory as well as the practical aspect of circuit analysis. It has 13 credits in general education core requirements and 25 credits under  technical requirements.

E.     Certificate of Achievement in Trial Counselors 

The certificate provides training opportunities for current as well as aspiring and upcoming trial counselors to improve their skills and competency and to prepare them to be effective decision makers in their respective courts.  It has a major requirement of 30 credits.

F.   Certificate of Achievement in Bookkeeping  

This certificate program is designed for those who are unable to attend the regular business degree program or those who do not meet the admission standards for degree program. It prepares a student for entry level jobs in the area of business, or those who are working to upgrade their skills in managing their own business. High school graduates or GED diploma are eligible for this program. It has major requirements of 36 credits.
