Duties:
  • Responsible for the circulation desk (circulate library materials; collect fine and fees; inspect materials; issue library cards; answer questions and direct patron to resources or right staff who can assist; explain library policies to users if needed);
  • Responsible for shelving, shelf reading and arranging materials according to their assigned numbers;
  • Prepare monthy report and assist with other LRC reports;
  • Assist with LRC instructions; train work-study students;
  • Operate standard office machines such as computers, scanner, laminator, etc.;
  • Follow safety preautions and rules and report all unsafe or irregular conditions to supervisor;
  • Keep work and office area neat and clean;
  • Assist with library inventory;
  • Serve on committees;
  • Repair/maintain (bookbinding/rebinding/re-casing) books, pamphlets and periodicals with established procedures and guidelines; and
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree from a US accredited college in library studies and related field with a minimum of one (1) year of work experience in library or related experience. Knowledge of: dealing with others in a tactful polite manner. Ability to: understand and follow oral and written instrutons; demonstrate initiative to learn and carry out responsibilities; demonstrate commitment to student success and experience in building strong relationships with student and staff; ability to perform various clerical procedures and operate various kinds of office equipment. Ability to understand, read, communicate, and write in English; learn various library procedures and terminology; gain understanding of the library‘s services and practices; learn and understand library’s classification scheme and location of materials. Software Programs: familiar with Library Management Software. Special Skills: familiar with subscription to EBSCO online journal database; editing sources online; assisting students with Schoology, etc..
