Reporting:
This position reports directly to the CRE Coordinator. Responsible for extending the agriculture programs it the FSM. The incumbent plans, organizes, and conducts agricultural workshops, non-formal education, meetings and demonstrations in the villages and other sites as necessary.
Duties:
Provide information and management advice directly to farmers, schools, non-governmental organizations and interested individuals. The agent collaborates with state Offices of Agriculture, Natural Resources and other governmental agencies and farmers in planning and organizing training workshops and projects at the village level. The agent evaluates the effectiveness of workshops and programs and implements suggested changes in areas of responsibilities. The agent develops brochures, publications, electronic media and other outreach materials related to the file do responsibility. The agent assists in developing local and national work plan. Inputs and maintains computer databases of all clientele. Trains, supervises, and assists extension agents in lower level grade in area of specialty. Develops own annual Plans of Work, weekly POW and submits to CRE Coordinator for approval. Prepares media programs and public service announcements for print, radio and TV awareness programs as required. Assists CRE Coordinator to write grant proposals and manages externally funded projects as assigned. Generates reports, follows individually tailored professional development program to upgrade skills. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in agriculture or related fields from a US accredited college and four (4) years of work-related experience. Foreign credentials must be equated to meet US standards in the field of work using World Education Services athttp://www.wes.org. Must be computer literate, familiar with publication software programs. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to demonstrate written and oral communication skills in Chuukese Language and in English.Preferred:Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, animal science, horticulture, agronomy or related field with two years of work experience.
