Reporting/Supervising:
This position reports to the Comptroller and supervises Account Technician for Treasury and Account Receivable Accountant.
Duties:
Handles the preparation and presentation of financial statements including recording, classifying and analyzing financial transactions particularly the accounts related to cash and equivalents, and payables. Handles the treasury activities and other related responsibilities and accountabilities in the administration and management of cash receipt and collections. Ensures that cash receipts and collections are secured and deposited intact at the earliest possible time. Handles the fiscal administration and reporting of grants and programs, and ensure its compliance with the provisions of the grants and programs. Handles processing and certification of obligating documents, and monitoring budgets of all offices, grants and programs. Performs reconciliations of bank accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, due to and due from accounts, unearned revenue and other accounts, and provides schedules and analyses requested by auditors and management. Handles the review and processes of accounts payable and check voucher. Oversees the operations of the business office counter, and provides timely and efficient services to students, staffs and other patrons of the college. Prepares budget and expenditures/encumbrance reports, and disseminates to respective offices at the end of the month. Supervises and reviews work of staffs and provides training to account clerk and account technicians, and other staffs at business office. Acts as Acting Comptroller in the absence of the Comptroller. Handles other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time. Serves on committees.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from a US accredited four-year college in Accounting and with five [5] years of experience in progressively responsible professional in accounting or related field. Certified Public Accountant preferred. Foreign credentials must be equated to meet US standards in the field of work using World Education Services at http://www.wes.org. Knowledge of: principles, practices, and techniques of generally accepted accounting principles and generally accepted methods of evaluating financial performance. Ability to: prepare and analyze financial statements, policies and procedures, and discern internal control and related problem; communicate effectively; work as part of a team in accomplishing tasks and functions. Experience: Two [2] years of the five [5] years must be experience in progressive experience in the preparation, presentation and analysis of financial statements. Must have sufficient experience supervising others. Must be proficient in using Excel and Word and must have adequate knowledge in any account software.
