The Business Trainer will assist Executive Director deliver business training and counseling to meet the obligation and responsibilities of the Center. The incumbent will serve as the administrative support for the Center.

Duties:Under the supervision of the Executive Director, incumbent will carry out the following duties:
  1. Business/Technical Responsibilities:
    • Perform a minimum of 260 hours of one on one confidential client business counseling to existing small business owners and potential entrepreneurs at the Center or in the rural communities.
    • Facilitate a minimum of 12 business related training per year with research and development of business plans, marketing plans, loan proposals and related business development requirements; evaluate business proposals together with client financial and business status to assess viability and bank ability of proposals;
    • Submit counseling reports, training reports, and economic impact reports to Neoserra.
    • Design training workshops for client needs.
    • Design training materials for current and new workshops.
    • Provide advice and assistance in establishment of financial recording systems in compliance with all relevant business, accounting, and taxation laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards;
    • Monitors training, counseling, and operational activities and effectiveness of results and prepares reports as appropriate, performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  2. General Administrative Responsibilities:
    • Monitor expenditures, maintain and organize center’s budget and provide regular update.
    • Prepare purchase requisitions and travel documents following current policies and procedures.
    • Answer telephone and greet/entertain visitors.
    • Participate in student and faculty workshops to develop ideas and projects organized by the center.
    • Write professional routine business letter, memoranda and reports as necessary.
    • Prepare and submit reimbursement reports and progress reports to the Pacific Island Small Business Development Center Network (PISBDCN).
    • Maintain connection with local students, faculty, business leaders and funders.
    • Remain available to oversee the functions of the center from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday especially when the Executive Director is on other business. Attend events outside working hours related to the center.
    • Assist the Executive Director locate funding opportunities, draft grant proposal or fund raising materials.
    • Supervise any student workers including work study students and the hydroponic farms.
    • Attend meetings and ad hoc committees as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or relevant fields from a US accredited college with two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience in the field of assignment. Ability to: analyze and develop basic business plans, marketing plans, financial strategies, and business loan proposals; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; Knowledge of: basic computer programs, basic business accounting; records maintenance skills; the principles and practices of small business operations; Experience: demonstrated successful experience providing training and counseling to small businesses or related groups. Skilled in: MS office and PDF, preferably experienced with Neoserra and Canvas.

A Third year certificate in Business Administration with four (4) years of progressively responsible work experience maybe considered in the absence of a bachelor’s degree with the condition of earning a bachelor’s degree in the field required during employment period.

Foreign credentials must be equated to US standards using World Education Services athttp://www.wes.org.
