Duties:

EFNEP Extension Agent I will report to the CRE Coordinator and will carry out work responsibilities mostly in the field. Specific duties include these

  • Work closely with supervisor or program staff in scheduling of activities to be performed at Kosrae CRE Office,
  • Conducting EFNET program activities by establishing cooking classes and carrying out nutrition activities.
  • Conducting EFNEP data collection, inputting data into WEB NEERS.
  • Preparing and uploading online reports on weekly basis, at least 4 activity reports per week.
  • Preparing progress reports monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Designing and implementing extension work on local food campaign, Breastfeeding Week, World Food Day, etc.
  • Coordinating with supervisor on schedule of activities on program activities.
  • Conducting outreach programs to homemakers, families of children with special needs and school programs.
  • Conducting community workshops; four community workshops per year.
  • Work closely with Inter Agency group to conduct Child Find survey and provide nutrition counseling, recommendations, and assistance to concerned areas.
  • Reporting to supervisor and/or key program staff about progress of problems encountered in project implementation.
  • Assisting in major CRE activities.
  • May work at odd hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, early mornings, and late nights as project demands. Abide by the applicable USDA, COM, and COM-FSM policies, rules, and regulations. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor and including serving on committees.
Minimum Qualifications:

AS degree from a US accredited college in human nutrition, dietetics, nursing, education or social services with four years of direct work experience. The applicant must be computer literate; possess a valid driver's license; familiar with publications software; demonstrate written and oral communication skills in English and the common native language of the state. Knowledge of:  the local language is essential; college programs and organizations; policies and regulations related to the field of assignment; techniques and procedures used in such programs.  Ability to: work with families with special needs children, mothers, and school programs, use computer and especially publications software programs; demonstrate ability to communicate in both written and spoken English and the local language; establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff; demonstrated successful work with diverse students and youth programs; work as part of a team in accomplishing tasks and functions. Software Program: MS Word and Excel.
