Duties:

The successful candidate will report to the Library Technician carrying out various responsibilities but not limited to the following:

  • Act as receptionist and provide routine information related to work location; deliver and pick up books and other library materials as needed;
  • Perform routine tasks at the circulation desk; type a variety of documents;
  • Search shelves and arrange materials;
  • Maintain specialized and general files;
  • Prepare routine reports and assist with the preparation of the reports;
  • Assist in public services area and provide instructions, directions and factual information to users; assist in supervising and training student workers;
  • Assist with library inventory and perform other related duties as assigned. Serve on committees.
  • Follow safety precautions and rules and report all unsafe or irregular conditions to supervisor; keep work and office area neat and clean;
  • Operate standard office machines such as typewriter and computer terminal;
Minimum Qualifications:

High School Graduate or equivalent. A minimum of one year of library related experience. Knowledge of: spelling, arithmetic, computer, common applications, electronic communications, internet browsing and research skills. Ability to: Understand and follow oral and written instructions; Demonstrated initiative to learn and carry out responsibilities. Demonstrated commitment to student success and experience in building strong relationships with students and staff. Demonstrated ability to perform various clerical procedures and operate various kinds of office equipment; demonstrate knowledge of and ability to deal with others in a tactful polite manner. Special Skills: Familiar with subscription to EBSCO online journal database; citing sources online; assisting students with Schoology, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:Associate degree from a US accredited college with two year of related work experience. Work experience in an educational setting. Willingness to learn various library procedures and terminology; gain understanding of the library‘s services and practices; learn and understand library’s classification scheme and location of materials.
