Duties:

Primary responsibility is the quantity cooking of hot meals for students and staff at the college as a regular and continuous work assignment. Handle preparation of food (cleaning, cutting meat and vegetables/fruits) and baking bread, cake and other food items. Assist other cooks in a variety of cooking and meal preparation work and assist in the cooking of designated principal meal items at a cooking station. Assist with the serving of meals in the dining hall. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in the dining hall.

Minimum Qualifications:

HS graduate with one year of experience in quantity cooking. Experience working in a food related environment preferred. Knowledge of: quantity cookery; use and care for cooking utensils and equipment’s; methods of handling and storing foods; kitchen safety and sanitation requirements; good personal hygiene. Ability to: operate standard cooking equipment; perform routine manual tasks in the care and cleaning of a kitchen; use recipes and follow established menus; follow oral and written instructions; get along with others an maintain cooperative working relationships; supervisor student workers from time to time; tolerate kitchen heat; perform heavy lifting, moving and carrying typical light to heavy objects up to 50 lbs. typical of such work. Must have a valid health certificate.
