Duties:

Under the supervision of the CRE Coordinator, the agent will carry out agriculture activities including these major functional responsibilities.

  • Plan, design, and implement educational extension programs on sustainable agriculture.
  • Maintain plant nursery, propagate varieties of planting crop materials, conduct filed visits to provide recommendations and advices..
  • Assist vocational teachers on agricultural courses.
  • Work closely with the Kosrae State Department of Resources and Economic Affairs (DREA) and Kosrae State Department Education (DOE) to enhance extension program services.
  • Serve on committees and perform duties to support the unit.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate of science degree in agriculture or related fields from a US accredited college and four years of work experience. Foreign credentials must be equated to meet US standards using World Education Services at http://www.wes.org. Must be computer literate and familiar with MS office, use of the World Wide Web/Internet, and email communication. Must have field work experience mostly on sustainable agriculture program; One year of work experience in the field of agriculture with informal teaching and training experience. Two years of work experience related to agriculture industry and sustainable natural resource management is preferred. Good working relationships with the local farmers, community groups, and the schools.

Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or Natural Resources Management and two years of work experience.
