Duties:
Works under the direct supervision of the Cooperative Research at Chuuk Campus. The research assistant carries out field surveys including data collection across the state of Chuuk. Supports all aspects of the on-going, funded and proposed research program including field and laboratory work as assigned by the researcher. Collects, analyzes and reports the results of projects and trails to the researcher. Helps the researcher in communicating with the local farmers and stakeholders in the research process. Reports progress and responds to local interest in projects. Gains the necessary laboratory skills and follows the protocol of laboratory and field trials as established with the researcher. Participates in the preparation of materials for training workshops, sessions, classes and seminars. Strengthens the collaboration and understanding between the CES, AES, appropriate Government of Chuuk agencies, donors and farmers. Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Researcher
Minimum Qualifications:

Certificate in Agriculture and Food Technology plus 2 years of field experience in a relevant area or an AS degree in a field related to Agriculture or Natural Resources from an accredited College.  A Bachelor of Science in a relevant program is preferred. Applicant must have the ability to write and understand English reports, documents and to communicate effectively in public meetings and media in the local language. Be physically capable of working for extended periods in field conditions. Be able to work a variable work schedule
