Duties:

Duties will include the handling of the bookstore in accordance with existing policy to provide customer services to students, faculty, staff and the general public; Data entries and retrievals of daily sales transactions and student Pell Grant charge accounts; Handle local purchases of sundries, office supplies and used book buybacks; Assist Bookstore manager with inbound and outbound deliveries; Prepare and submit monthly sales report to the Bookstore Manager; Assist with the annual inventory; Update and maintain inventory in the Point of Sales system; Maintain the orderliness of the sales floor and displays of books and other merchandises; Answer phone calls; Maintain records for internal and external review  and audit; Perform additional business office functions assign by the Comptroller and necessary initiatives to support the office and campus in the field of work. Serve on committees.

Reporting and Major Function: The account clerk III reports to the bookstore manager and is responsible for the bookstore component of the Business Office at the National Campus performing  a variety of general accounting support tasks in the bookstore including: verifying the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records. Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., disbursement, expense vouchers, receipts, account payable).

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate of Arts/Science in business/accounting from a US accredited college with one year of progressively responsible work experience which demonstrates possession of knowledge and skills required. Foreign credentials must be equated to US standards using World Education Services at http://www.wes.org.AS/AA degree in Business with two of direct years’ experience preferred.  Knowledge of:  accounting and other fiscal principles and practices such as purchasing principles; modern office equipment including computers, typewriters and fax machines; and Microsoft word and excel program.  Ability to: communicate effectively in English orally and in writing; follow and meet deadlines; perform accurate mathematical calculations and maintain effective working relationships with staff and students.

Preferred Experience/Skills: Evidence of exceptional customer services and working relationships with staff and students, Strong knowledge of MS Office and Point of Sales System, Knowledge of accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions, perform accurate mathematical calculations, excellent communication skills and exceptional organization and time management skills.
