Duties:

Reporting to the senior system specialist II at the campus, the technician will carry out the major following functional responsibilities and additional necessary duties to meet IT needs at the campus.

  1. Deploy and strengthen user function of major products and across multiple platforms including Windows, Unix, Linux, and/or mobile platforms (iOS or Android);
  2. Support clients to ensure smooth and efficient operations of applications and access to system servers;
  3. Train users to develop digital literacy(ID-10-T based, experienced, expert users);
  4. Test product compatibility and security through sandboxing, penetration testing; evaluate hardware, software, and related services as it relates to college-systems integration.
  5. Prepare and communicate ICT languages into user-friendly English to update operating/user manual:
  6. Coordinate within the IT team and wider college community. Serve on committees as required;
  7. Research new products and stay informed of ICT innovation best practices in the Pacific reason;
  8. Provide network support campus wide which includes installing networked application software, granting access to users, creating use groups, managing shared resources, installing peripherals, configuring student compute labs for security;
  9. Monitor campus computer labs as necessary;
  10. Train users in startup, basic, and advanced use of software programs including Microsoft products, open office applications, relevant databases, and relevant operating systems;
  11. May provide group training on request;
  12. Maintain up to date expertise in the operation and application of the college standard microcomputer software and a working knowledge of a wide variety of commonly used hardware and software;
  13. Debug computer software and hardware for viruses;
  14. May provide supervision, training, and technical guidance to students, staff, and faculty;
  15. Install/uninstall programs according to COM-FSM computer requirements and policies; and
  16. Perform other related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position.
Minimum Qualifications:

AS degree in CIS from a US accredited college and at least 2 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Demonstrated knowledge of computers & ability to work long hours.  Must have experience in the use and repair of computers.  Extensive experience with Operating Systems used at the COM-FSM.  Ability to install hardware/software as instructed.  Physical & Other Requirements: Individual must be able to carry a desktop computer, have sufficient manual dexterity to work with the small components inside a computer. Individual must demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and oral.
