Duties:

Provide network support campus wide which includes installing networked application software, granting access to users, creating user groups, managing shared resources, installing peripherals, configuring student computer labs for security. Monitor computer labs as necessary. Train users in startup, basic and advanced use of software programs including Microsoft office products, open office applications, relevant databases, and relevant operating systems.  May provide group training on request. Maintain up-to-date expertise in the operation and application of the college standard microcomputer software and a working knowledge of a wide variety of commonly used hardware and software. Debug computer hardware and software for viruses. May provide supervision, training and technical guidance to students assisting the department with software support as a part of their course work.  May assess and report on student progress to faculty. Install/Uninstall programs according to COM-FSM Computer requirements and policies.  Perform other related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position. Serves on committees.

Minimum Qualifications:

AS degree in CIS from a US accredited college and at least 2 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Foreign credentials must be equated to meet US standards using World Education Services at http://www.wes.org.   Demonstrated knowledge of computers & ability to work long hours.  Must have experience in the use and repair of computers.  Extensive experience with Operating Systems used at the COM-FSM.  Ability to install hardware/software as instructed.  A good sense of electronic components is a plus.  Physical & Other Requirements: Individual must be able to carry a desktop computer, have sufficient manual dexterity to work with the small components inside a computer.  Individual must demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and oral.
