Duties:

Under the direct supervision of the Student Services Coordinator, the incumbent will:

  • Develop and provide individual and group counseling in career, scholarships, personal, social, academic progress and other educational counseling in support to student success.
  • Provide academic counseling to students on a regular basis to ensure that students successful complete their programs.
  • Provide counseling to students who are on financial aid probation, students who are not making satisfactory academic progress, and students who are on at-risk, early warning and midterm deficiency lists to help them successfully pass their classes by end of each semester.
  • Work closely with faculty and student services staff during each semester to evaluate students’ performance and to provide counseling based on student needs in support for student success.
  • Explains to each student his/her rights and obligations relative to the awarding of financial aid to the student, and helping student to ensure that they meet all the eligibility requirements.
  • Maintains and manages students’ records accurately and make reports as required.
  • Responsible for getting and keeping complete students’ records in the following areas: admissions requirements, financial aid, programs enrolled in, and other relevant records.
  • Assist prospective students and currently enrolled students in preparing all the necessary forms and documents required by the college for admissions, financial aid and other related forms in student support services.
  • Maintain regular communications with the OARR, Financial Aid Office, and Student Support Services Division at the National Campus to ensure that students have complete records and that they are receiving the services.
  • Supervise the work study program on campus.
  • Work closely with student services staff and tutors to ensure students get the assistance needed to successfully complete their programs.
  • Work with other student services staff to assign advisors to students each semester and do follow up to ensure that students receive counseling services on a regular basis.
  • Work closely with other programs on campus to ensure that students receive the assistance needed to succeed in College.
  • Must work closely with all staff on campus to provide necessary services to students. 
  • Assist in planning and advertising courses to be offered each semester, assists in finding prospective instructors who are qualified.
  • Take a lead role in planning and implementing course selection, pre-registration, registration of students each semester.
  • Assist in planning and conducting student orientation
  • Assist in administering the test.
  • Must attend meetings and trainings as directed.
  • Be advisor to SBA Officers each semester/academic year.
  • Assist in planning and promoting the college programs to prospective students and the communities in general as part of the ongoing recruitment campaign.
  • Work with all the State high schools’ counselors and teachers to conduct financial aid workshops for students and parents and to share information about admission requirements, etc.
  • Attend and make regular reports to the Student Services Coordinator and Campus Dean during staff meetings and at the end of each month.
  • Serve on relevant committees, as a student advisor, and perform other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in either in guidance and counseling, psychology, sociology or related field  from a US accredited college and two year experience in providing educational services, counseling, or other assistance to the students or related groups. Foreign credentials must be equated to US standards using World Education Services at http://www.wes.org. Knowledge of college programs/organization, and their purposes and organization, policies and regulations related to the field of assignment; techniques and procedures used in academic and personal counseling; principles and practices of modern office management. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, staff and community; learn the specific techniques needed to fulfill student services activities program assigned; plan, schedule, evaluate and review work activities and planned programs; analyze effectiveness of program and make appropriate modifications within scope and assigned responsibility; work with a diverse faculty, staff and students; work as part of a team in accomplishing tasks and functions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint including Publisher. Experience with establishment and assessment of student learning outcomes. OR an equivalent combination of education at the bachelor’s degree level and two times the required experience which provides for the above.(A candidate hired with a bachelor’s degree will be required to earn a master’s degree as a condition of employment).
