Duties:

Assists students who have not declared a field of study, mapping out the most appropriate educational program. Conducts student orientation for the college counseling services and other student services programs. Assists in the area of registration, graduation exercises, and student withdrawal from classes and/or school. Arranges and conduct workshops on career selection, resume and interview preparation. Helps identify college and universities for students, assist with college, scholarship, and grant application process for continuing and transferring students. Develops and implements new relevant programs to ensure student success and retention. Provides personal, academic, and alcohol counseling. Assists in the administration of the COMET, and recruitment of new students. Supervises and directs the tutorial services at the college including arranging and conducting apt training to better prepare tutors in effectively and efficiently providing tutorial services. Regularly conducts assessment of tutorial services. Maintains and keeps up to date student records.  Serves on committees and performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in either in guidance and counseling, psychology, sociology or related field  from a US accredited college and two year experience in providing educational services, counseling, or other assistance to the students or related groups. Foreign credentials must be equated to US standards using World Education Services at http://www.wes.org. Knowledge of college programs/organization, and their purposes and organization, policies and regulations related to the field of assignment; techniques and procedures used in academic and personal counseling; principles and practices of modern office management. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, staff and community; learn the specific techniques needed to fulfill student services activities program assigned; plan, schedule, evaluate and review work activities and planned programs; analyze effectiveness of program and make appropriate modifications within scope and assigned responsibility; work with a diverse faculty, staff and students; work as part of a team in accomplishing tasks and functions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint including Publisher. Experience with establishment and assessment of student learning outcomes. OR an equivalent combination of education at the bachelor’s degree level and two times the required experience which provides for the above.(A candidate hired with a bachelor’s degree will be required to earn a master’s degree as a condition of employment).
