Duties:

Teach 12 to 15 contact hour course load each semester in Exercise Sport Science.   Collaborate closely with the college’s sports & recreation program.  Assist in recruiting, evaluating and training/mentoring part-time instructors. Implement risk management processes for the division, including adapting physical activities for students with existing medical conditions or other special needs.  Area of teaching include badminton, resistance training and waling, basketball, soccer, softball, table tennis, Frisbee, volleyball, rhythmic activities, tai chi, and yoga.  Teaching classes in accordance with the goals and objectives of the course as described in the course outline. Maintaining accurate records of student attendance and student learning outcomes/grades, in accordance with COM-FSM regulations. Submitting records to Chairperson after the end of the semester/session. Keeping at least 5 office hours per week. Participating in committees per college participatory governance; may be asked to participate in adhoc committees. Advising students. Participating in special college functions such as graduation. Participating in division activities.  This includes meetings, curriculum development and developing procedures for improving current classes. Participating in assessment activities. Participating in professional development. Attending to additional needs of the college or the community as agreed upon by the faculty member in consultation with their supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in physical education or equivalent field from a US accredited institution with two years teaching experience at the post-secondary level. Foreign credentials must be equated to meet US standards in the field of work using World Education Services at www.wes.org.  Must have instructional design experience: experience with program development and student learning outcomes; experience adapting courses to students with different abilities, physical or medial challenges. Know how to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, On-line grading applications, and TracDat. Special skills, abiliites and knowledge: Create and reach student learning outcomes, lesson plans; communicate effectively; analyze, interpret and use sound logic and judgement in application of a variety of teaching methods/strategies; work with diverse faculty, staff, and students; work as part of a team in accomplishing tasks and functions. Ability to work with students learning English as a second language. Posesses experience working in a multicultural international setting with culturally diverse students. Gives evidence of exemplary teaching ability. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Teaching experience away from homeland is preferred.
