The College of Micronesia-FSM seeks to fill the position of Executive Director of Institutional Advancement and External Affairs Office. Reporting to the President and CEO, the Executive Director is the lead administrator providing leadership, strategic direction, and management for the college’s operational fundraising program, alumni relations, communications and marketing, and foundation relations to    support the College of Micronesia - FSM goals and mission.  The Executive Director oversees and directs planning, implementation, coordinatination, and evaluation of institutional advancement services, programs, and relations to ensure strategic goals and mission are met.  

The Executive Director is a key contributor to policy formulation, strategic planning, budget development, and stakeholder management. 
Essential Areas of Responsibilities include:

[Administration of IAEA Office]

  • Plan, organize, and implement a comprehensive program of institutional advancement and external affairs for the college.
  • Responsible for creating, updating and implementing policies and procedures in the area of IA and its programs.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the IAEA including supervision and management of staff and oversight of the operations, budget, and systems that support efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Provide a clear vision, supervisory leadership, management and strategic direction for all aspects of the unit’s program.
  • Represent the IAEA Office to advance college’s plans and as designated by President.
  • Develop annual budget for IAEA and its plans that links to current strategic plan.
  • Supervise, set direction, evaluate, and provide feedback to staff of IAEA Office to support the professional growth of the team and achievement of the unit’s priorities.
  • Create a culture and environment that encourages inclusiveness and teamwork.
  • Work closely with established college teams and key internal staff to support college initiatives and IAES Office’s programs.
  • Establish and lead ado committees as needed to support IAEA’s programs.
  • Develop plans and reports on IAEA’s activities for decision making and informing sharing.
  • Develop and maintain own annual professional development plans including participation in relevant professional organizations that will advance the IAEA’s goals.

[Fundraising Program]

  • Develop and manage entrepreneurial partnerships with a diverse population that will benefit the college.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to secure maximum grant funding to the college through the submission of strong and well written, well placed grants and partnership opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain systems to cultivate all donors (foundation, corporate and individual) through personal outreach, invitations, visits, special events, publications, and correspondence.
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit individuals in support of COM-FSM’s mission and maintain relationships with a roster of major donors.

[Alumni Relations]

  • Oversee the alumni relations efforts to continually recruit friends and volunteers who support the mission of the college.
  • Collaborate with the Business Office and/or Financial Aid Office to administer scholarships funded through individual endowments and/or grants.
  • Oversee the maintenance and update to the roster of alumni and friends of the college and use the list to communicate and advance the college.  

[Communication and Marketing]

  • Work with President, Cabinet, college committees and teams to develop and execute an annual strategy for both new and renewing major donors, including expansion and diversification of the major donor roster.
  • Provide strategic guidance and leadership for all annual, campus and capital campaigns as well as special events designed to secure donations, expand community support and build endowment funding for the college.
  • Build goodwill in the community, recognize donors and assist the President in cultivating potential major donors.
  • Engage in activities that enhance the college’s visibility and reputation locally, regionally, internationally.
  • Provide oversight of marketing and communication efforts externally and internally including print, publications, social media, websites, radio, etc.

 

[Foundation Relations]

  • Serve as a liaison to the Friends of COM-FSM Foundation.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with program officers and representatives of current foundation and corporate supporters.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from a US accredited institution in relevant field with four (4) years of progressive responsible administrative experience in the area of assignment. Educational credentials must be from a US regionally accredited college or equated to meet US standards using World Education Services at http://www.wes.org.  Demonstrated commitment to student success.

Candidates must demonstrate successful administrative or related professional work which indicates possession of knowledge and skills required to be successful in the position. Candidates must also come with firsthand experience and knowledge of the FSM Government, State Governments, US Government, and understanding/knowledge of foreign governments including those with embassies in the FSM. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; must have working knowledge/familiarity with Google Doc. Evidence of public speaking in the English Language is required. Evidence of excellent multitasking ability and organization of an office with multi projects and deadlines. Demonstrated ability to accomplish tasks working with different people, different level of managers in the organization, corporate organizations, foundations, external goverments, and local government leaders.
