Reporting:This position reports directly to the Accountant II position responsible for Payroll.

Duties:
Reviews and checks timesheets. Checks if leaves per timesheet are supported by leave slips and if the employee has sufficient leave balance for the applied leave. Gathers special contracts and determines whether the contract is due for payment. Inputs the information of the timesheet in the payroll system. Checks the mathematical calculation of the memorandum for Financial Aid Office relating to the payment of work study. Inputs, edits and modifies the settings and set-ups of the payroll system in coordination with the Senior Payroll Accountant. Reviews the accuracy of payroll register before submitting it to Supervisor for final review. Distributes payroll checks to employees at the National campus and deposits payroll checks for State campuses at the bank. Ensures that fund is sufficient before releasing payroll check. Completes fiscal forms, records and reports in relation to Payroll based on guidelines and procedures. Ensures that personnel charges are properly charged to appropriate accounts. Analyzes accounts and prepares the necessary adjusting entries. Handles bank reconciliation. Assists in servicing students, staff, faculty and other clients at the Business Office counter. Serves on committee as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from a US accredited institution in Accounting or related field with one (1) year progressively responsible professional experience in accounting or related field. OR an AS degree in business accounting, business administration or related fields with three (3) years of responsible professional experience in accounting or related fields to the work assignment. Foreign credentials must be equated to meet US standards in the field of work using World Education Services athttp://www.wes.org. Knowledge of: computer programs such as Excel and Word; principles, practices and generally accepted techniques of accounting. Ability to: work with a diverse staff, faculty and students, work as part of a team in accomplishing tasks and functions. Experience: working with an accounting software and/or payroll system preferred. Good oral and written communication skills are essential. Preferred work experience in payroll processing and ability to use MIP system
