Under the supervision of the Vice President for Enrolment Management and Student Services, the Director of Student Life is responsible the effective coordination, delivery, evaluation, and refinement of student support services(residence halls, sports and recreation, health services, peer counseling center) including related programs, student activities, student body associations, student clubs and organizations; ensure that all programs and activities are in alignment with outcomes for student success as identified by the college.

Duties:
  1. Oversee and supervise the college’s residence halls, sports and recreation, health services, and peer counseling center; ensure the seamless delivery of support services for students through cooperative, collaborative, and timely efforts with academic programs and other administrative units at the college;
  2. Plan, organize, direct, and administer activities and services that support students in assigned areas, and ensue that such activities and services remain with budgetary limits. Take leadership in the development of a comprehensive student life calendar to include co-and extra-curricular activities that complement student learning.
  3. Work closely and effectively with other college departments, academic programs, and administrative units to actively contribute to initiatives and efforts designed to foster student success, attract and retain students, and deliver quality student support services and activities;
  4. Recommend the development of and/or revisions to polices, regulations and procedures in compliance with US federal regulations, accreditation standards and requirements, as they relate to specific program areas and/or services for students;
  5. Oversee and coordinate the planning, development and performance of the residence halls, sports and recreation, and health services, and liaise with the college’s maintenance and security  about sports, recreation, residence life facilities, equipment, and grounds;
  6. Represents the college on- and off-campus to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. Assist in the planning and implementation of the college’s recruitment activities for prospective students including assisting in the administration of the college’s entrance tests and other related tasks;
  7. Assess and evaluate student support services, activities, and programs of the purpose of carrying out and achieving objectives, continuous quality improvement and meeting accreditation standards and other requirements.  Maintain data bases on student participation levels and programs/service outcomes;
  8. Hire, orient and supervise student support service staff by preforming such things as: direct, schedule, provide performance feedback, evaluate, suggest professional development, and where necessary, discipline direct reports and contracted employees;
  9. Address student complains and conduct investigations as required. Serve in the student disciplinary process;
  10. Deal regularly with and represent the college with a variety of individuals and groups in the community, in carrying out various public relations and promotional activities, coordinating and scheduling student services activities and programs including providing information about these programs and activities;
  11. Take an inclusive leadership role in preparing and delivering student orientations, college fairs, campus visits, the founding day, intramural games, and other related activities;
  12. Liaise with the college’s student body association inducing student clubs and organizations; and
  13. Perform other works and duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
l

Bachelor's degree from a US accredited college in psychology, higher education administration, student affairs or related field. Five years’ experience in student support services, student affairs, counseling and advising or related experience in a higher education environment. Foreign credentials must be equated to US standards using World Education Services at http://www.wes.org. Demonstrated commitment to student success. Must have proficiency in computers; good oral and written communication skills; assessment and evaluation in student support services; supervisory skills; team work ability; and cultural sensitivity.


Preferred Qualifications. A master’s degree in psychology, student affairs, higher education administration or related field. Enrollment management experience including marketing and recruitment; budget development, and strategic planning.
